Sunday was a slow morning and I just about managed to make it back to Thieves Tavern to watch the end of the Euro 2012 Final. Bradley and Tommy were there plus a few other guys and then an English friend of Bradley’s called Victoria arrived. She and Bradley worked together in London and both came over to SF with the same company. She is a bit shorter then me but stick thin with a straight, blonde bob and big blue eyes. In my opinion she could do with a bit more meat on her, lack of facial flesh makes her look older than she should and to compensate she wears too much make-up. I prescribe a few more chip burritos. We hung out in the bar all afternoon. A bar regular, Dan, taught me the rules of baseball. He must be about 30, comes in most Sundays to sit at the bar, drink whiskey, watch the game and then get a take away delivered to the bar when he gets hungry. He recommended going to an LA vs SF game as they are the big rivals. Once I got into it baseball was quite exciting, although scoring about 2 or 3 runs is the average. Most players are out before they even hit 1st base.
I got an email from the editor during the day saying that my story about the Israel China Festival didn’t really hit the mark so onto the next story.
We left the bar to meet some other friends of Bradley and Victoria for sushi. I’m hoping that they don’t get bored of me following them around everywhere. The sushi was really good; we had a couple of long rolls stuffed full of fish, avocado, mushroom, wrapped in eel skin, topped with fish eggs. After watching the documentary about Jiro and his very simple sushi it seemed outrageously over the top.
Everyone, well a lot of people, here are big weed smokers. If you get a special card from the authorities declaring that you need it for medical reasons, and this can extend to a bad back, then you can to go any one of a number of shops and buy up to 2 grams at a time for personal use. No wonder everyone is so chilled out.
