I have discovered that the other interns are all doing sales cold calling so however much I have moments of stress looking for inspiration at least I am not doing that.
Peter eventually got around to reading my Russia story; as I imagined he said it’s not really NAM appropriate; not enough of an ethnic spin, which was expected. He’s also got my Olympic story but hasn’t read that one yet. Everyone is very busy but delays are annoying, stories go off the boil and enthusiasm wanes. And actually the Olympics are only around the corner now so hopefully he’ll get around to it sooner rather than later.
I was eating lunch with one of the other interns and and she was surprised to find out that I left uni quite a long time ago! Another one of them is from Korea but is studying for a year in the US. I am always surprised that lots of students share rooms; I couldn’t think of anything worse. Her next roommate is British and she asked if I had any tips; I told her that they’d probably be drunk all of the time which didn’t seem to go down well.
Fishing for another story....staring at a screen all day without much purpose is incredibly draining. I need a new idea! Somewhere between too local and too international with an ethnic twist, any thoughts?
Fact of the day; it has taken me three weeks to use one roll of loo paper.
And, they do not have chip and pin here, you still sign the receipt, unless it is under $25 then you just swipe your card. I could probably sign Mickey Mouse and no one would notice.
An early night although I have been having really weird dreams. Last night I dreamt that Lewis was abducted by the Japanese government for organ harvesting; he was especially desired because they thought that his organs would be bigger than normal. Then I dreamt about killing rats, which is obviously linked to the book on bubonic plague. I need to go back to writing pithy lifestyle articles, they don’t affect your dreams in this bizarre way.
Instructions on how to get into the office; I would love to know how many people failed to work it out for themselves before they had to put the sign up.
