The cycle into work is basically downhill, the only time waster is if you get the timing of the lights not in your favour then you end up stopping at nearly every block. It only takes about half an hour, whizzing down. The return journey is not as fun, especially when the wind is trying to blow you back down the hill. There is nothing I hate more than cycling into a head wind, it makes me want to cry and scream at the same time.
Work was slow but Jacob read my Hotel Frank piece and liked it, although Peter brought up some issues about it being too parochial. I think Peter has higher standards and doesn’t feel the need to be nice like Jacob.
I went to a sushi restaurant across from the office for lunch and got a $10 box; there was so much food it was obscene - two good sized rolls, a lump of rice, pickles, salad and miso soup. And they gave me edamame beans to eat whilst I waited. Being a greedy pig I ate it all even though I wasn’t hungry but as I’m not in tomorrow and it would have got squashed in my bag on the ride home I didn’t see any other option, and I couldn’t possibly have thrown it in the bin!
I have discovered that the local grocery shop sells dark chocolate and yoghurt covered pretzels, they are basically my version of crack, especially when eaten together.
I went on a run in the park, my third so far, to try to combat the cumulative effects of large portions and regular treats. The bike riding is more anaerobic than fat burning so at least I’ll be better at running for the bus when I get back.
I watched the film ‘Four Lions’ tonight. I keep trying to go to bed early but get caught up watching a video. I have become obsessed with Benedict Cumberbatch and he makes a 2 minute appearance which was a pleasure.
I also discovered that if you put an egg (in its shell) in a mug, cover it with boiled water and put it in the microwave it will explode after 40 seconds.
