A dreary day and no plans so I thought I’d better so some work so that I have something to show tomorrow, especially as last week was a two day week. I was going to work at Mel’s Drive-In Diner but it was way too loud in there so I just had breakfast instead. Mel’s is the diner in the movie American Graffiti and it is total Americana; red, white and blue decorations, booth seating, individual jukeboxes, seats at the bar, Latino staff. I had Mel’s special French Toast with bacon, egg and syrup. It was relatively tasteless, I felt as though I might inadvertently be in the US equivalent of Little Chef. But they were playing Rock n Roll so at least it sounded better.
The cave was my office for the afternoon and I worked on my stories and diary. Life would be much easier if they could just use my diary; I could have my own column. Maybe I'll pitch it to Sandy!
The evening’s activity was going to the cinema to see ‘Headhunters’ a Norwegian film about a head hunter who is tracked by someone who is after his head, i.e. wants him dead. It was very gruesome at times but always with a dark sense of humour running through it. And there is a happy ending to make up for the heaps of dead bodies along the way.
